Handwritten copy of Rachel Blake's intent to start a business in the Dunlap Township (San Joaquin County, Calif.) to raise, buy and sell stock. Includes a statement by the Justice of the Peace saying that Blake acted of her own free will without undue influence of her husband. Blake signed the document with an "X". The second document describes the location of John Blake's home and states his intention, with his wife, to claim the property as a Homestead under the provisions of the Homestead Act.
